FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
I’m pretty excited to finally publish this post, with my very first CAL (crochet along)! If you haven’t heard about this dynamic, it’s all about making a project together, by releasing a pattern little by little, so everyone that participates has enough time to complete each section. Or you can also follow at your own pace, as every part remains published, for all to catch up.
And guess what? This CAL is also for free and including video tutorials, for those that prefer that kind of direction (though you will also find the written instructions for each part).
This free pattern is for a bunny named Hop-Hop Charlie, I’m not sure if I should call it an amigurumi, because it’s quite big, but it sure makes a lovely companion for kids or adults. It combines basic stitches and techniques, with Intarsia Crochet for the Carrot T-Shirt so, it will be both fun and interesting, if you haven’t tried this way of color work.
Hop-Hop Charlie CAL will consist of 4 parts to finish the complete project:
PART 1. Bunny: Legs and Body (released today, December 10, 2018)
PART 2. Bunny: Arms, Head and Ears (to be released December 17, 2018)
PART 3. Carrot T-Shirt: Front, Right/Left Back and Sleeves (to be released December 24, 2018)
PART 4. Finishing (to be released December 31st, 2018)
If you want the anticipated, finished version of this free CAL, which is a formatted, ad free, 10 page PDF document (with photo tutorials), this is already available in my pattern stores (Ravelry, Allcrochetpatterns.net, Etsy, Craftsy, Lovecrochet) for USD $2.50. This will allow you to complete the design, without waiting for the other parts of the free CAL to be revealed. Just note that instructions (with videos) will be released as the free CAL moves along.
Make sure to subscribe to my mailing list, or follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Youtube, for you to be notified as soon as a new part of this CAL is published. I will also love to see your makings so, feel free to use #hophopcharlie on your IG or FB posts, for me to see your progress.
Each part will be published in a blog post, with written instructions and link to its video tutorial. So today, you will find the written instructions and link to the video for PART 1 below.
* If you’re following this tutorial once all videos have been released, I suggest you watch them in order, because there are instructions that are based on how first parts are made. Nevertheless, you can always come back to written instructions of each part if you have doubts. You will also find the links to the blog posts in the descriptions of each video.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
For this part of Hop-Hop Charlie CAL, we’ll be using crochet basic stitches, such as single crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch, easy increases and decreases. We’ll also be crocheting in the round and making a few color changes for the legs. Skill level for the complete pattern is rated as intermediate, because Intarsia Crochet is involved in PART 3 of the project, but we’ll be going easy for parts 1 and 2 first.
