You’ll need a 7 mm crochet hook, 100 gr. of chunky/bulky weight yarn, a 1.4″/ 3.6 cm wide button and stitch markers.
GAUGE (in double crochet): 10 sts x 6 rows= 4″/ 10 cm
It’s all crocheted in the round in closed rounds. Ch 62, sl st in the 6th ch from hook (this will form the buttonhole)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc 59, 6 dc in next st (don’t place the markers anymore), dc 66, 6 dc in next st, dc 6, sl st in the 3rd ch= 144 sts
Rnd 4: Ch 1, (sc 1, ch 3, skip 2 sts) rep ( ) 48 times, sl st in the 1st sc of the round= 48 ch 3 spaces
Rnd 5: Ch 1, [(sc 1, dc 3, sc 1) in the 3 ch space] rep [ ] 48 times, sl st in the 1st sc of the round.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Sew the button to the opposite side of the buttonhole on the right side of your work. Button up, the upper edges of the scarf will naturally fold as part of the design forming a kind of collar. The short scarf is ready.
