Materials are stuffing, a 3.5 mm crochet hook and 50 gr. of sport weight 100% cotton yarn.
The entire work is crocheted in the round, in a spiral way.
It’s started from the tail, which is made of two parts.
PART 1: Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook= 6 sts (I suggest placing a marker in the first st of every round to count sts and rounds easier)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around= 12 sts
Rnd 3-6: Sc 12.
Rnd 7: Sc 12. Sl st in the first sc of this round. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
PART 2 of the tail is practically made the same way, just stop before making ss in R7.
Take PART 1 and place it before PART 2, take your hook and go through one st in PART 1 and one st in PART 2 and sc 1. Rep twice more to join both parts of the tail. Then continue crocheting in the round.
Rnd 8: Sc 18 (place the marker in the first st of this row, as you took 3 sc for the seam, there will be 9 sts in each part of the tail)
Rnd 9: Sc 18
Rnd 10: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st) rep ( ) 9 times= 27 sts
Rnd 11: Sc 27
Rnd 12: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st) rep ( ) 9 times= 36 sts. Stuff the tail.
Rnd 13-25: Sc 36
Rnd 26: (Sc 2, dec 1) rep ( ) 9 times= 27 sts
Rnd 27: Sc 27
Rnd 28: (Sc 1, dec 1) rep ( ) 9 times= 18 sts
Rnd 29: Sc 18. Stuff the fish.
Rnd 30: (Sc 1, sk 1) rep ( ) 9 times= 9 sts
Rnd 31: (Sc 1, dec 1) rep ( ) 3 times= 3 sts. Sl st in the first sc of this round.
Fasten off and weave in all ends. The fish is ready.
This can be an excellent gift for babies or kids. They also work beautifully as ornaments for any space.
