You need 9 big wooden beads, a 3.5 mm crochet hook, sport weight cotton yarn in 5 different shades and ribbon in two colors, 120 cm of each.
Each bead will be wrapped inside a crochet cover.
It’s worked in the round, in a spiral way. Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in the first ch= 6 sts (place a marker in the first sc of this and next round to count sts easier)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around= 12 sts
Keep making rounds of 12 sc until you cover 80% of the bead (you can stop placing the marker).
Put the bead inside.
Make 6 decreases to close the bead cover. Sl st in the next st.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
With the hook, go through the bead, take both ribbons and pull across.
This is the middle bead so it must be placed right at the center of the ribbons’ length. From this point on start knotting and placing the following beads to both sides. Don’t tighten the knots too much so they can work as stoppers. Once you’ve placed all the beads leave 17 cm on each end and knot. Finally, tie a strong double knot with the remaining ribbon. Weave in and seal the ends (this can be done with transparent glue). The necklace must be long enough so the head can go through.
DECREASE (with sc): Insert the hook in the next st, yarn over and draw through the st, insert the hook in the next st, yarn over and draw through the st, yarn over and draw through the three loops on the hook. 1 st has been decreased.
