I still had two skeins left of upcycled fabric yarn to make a new free pattern. And so a second video tutorial working with this material is now completed, the XL upcycled fabric bag. It’s made using all of the yarn to make a big bag with good space for a summer outing or a nice picnic. It’s a simple design and construction, just three rounds to complete the base and then continuing with the same amount of stitches to make the bag rise. The straps at the end give it a nice touch and versatility. It’s also complemented with the written instructions and additional details if you decide to make one yourself.
Aún tenía dos madejas restantes de tela reciclada (trapillo) para hacer un patrón gratuito. Y así un segundo video tutorial trabajando con este material se ha terminado, el bolso de trapillo XL. Está hecho aprovechando todo el material para hacer un bolso grande con buen espacio para un paseo de verano o un lindo picnic. Es un diseño y una construcción simple, sólo 3 vueltas para completar la base y después se continúa con la misma cantidad de puntos para levantar el bolso. When working with t-shirt yarn you will find small differences from one shade to the other. The reason for this is that its production changes from regular yarn. It’s more of a transformation because it’s fabric turned into a yarn skein. So each one has a different feel and width when unfolding the yarn. We have to take this into consideration before starting our project to make sure the finished item will come out as expected. I present to you these two options to choose from. The first one, the upcycled fabric bag from last week, is for a chunkier yarn (when unfolded it measures 3.5 cm) so it’s a 400 gr. skein with less meters/yards that will give you nice big stitches to be made with the 12 mm crochet hook. And the second model from this week, the XL bag, is for a thinner yarn (when unfolded it measures 2 cm), this means the same 400 gr. but more meters/yards and smaller stitches that work great with the 10 mm hook.
Al trabajar con trapillo encontrarás pequeñas diferencias de un color a otro. La razón para esto es que su producción es distinta del estambre regular. Es más una transformación ya que es tela covertida en estambre. Así que cada madeja tiene diferente textura y grosor al desdoblar el hilo. Debemos tomar esto en cuenta antes de empezar nuestro proyecto para asegurarnos de que el resultado final será como esperamos. Y te he presentado dos opciones para elegir. La primera, el bolso de tela reciclada (trapillo) de la semana pasada, es para un hilo más grueso (que al desdoblarse mide 3.5 cm) así que es una madeja de 400 gr. con menos metros pero que te dará puntos lindos muy gruesos que se tejen con el gancho de 12 mm. Y el segundo modelo de esta semana, el bolso XL de trapillo, para un hilo un poco más delgado (que al desdoblarse mide 2 cm) y esto siginifica los mismos 400 gr. pero más metros y puntos más pequeños, perfectos para trabajarse con el ganchillo de 10 mm.
