FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
To me, one of the prettiest Christmas decorative items are wreaths. They bring color and joy into our homes, but they also have this elegant warm touch, which many of us are looking for in Winter season.
The Holly Mini Wreath is designed to embellish your outdoor and indoor spaces. Display it on your doors, windows, kitchen cabinets or even your staircase. Due to the smaller size, you can crochet more than one to create a series of cute ornaments.
Skill level is easy so that you can complete it faster, with mainly in the round construction. Then, simple leaves, fruits and a bow are made to add the joyful details.
Basic stitches such as single crochets and half double crochets. And also also split single crochet for the body of the wreath to give nice texture and thickness. Remember you can always refer to my Crocheting from Scratch video below, which covers crochet basics right from the beginning, in case you need to check them first.
And for a little practice with split single crochet, I also have the video tutorial to create a small sample beforehand. Video is in Spanish, but you have the option to see the Closed Caption in the language of your choice, by selecting the settings icon on the video then, select Closed Caption, Automatic Translation and select your language. Then, you will be able to move with more confidence through the wreath project.
The Holly Mini Wreath includes increases and decreases (with split single crochet) within a nice round structure and intuitive finishing. Also, a nice hanging cord to add by the end, to make it easier for you to adapt to your spaces.
SPECIAL STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
Split single crochet
Single crochet, made right in the center of stitches of last round, to create a thicker fabric. To make it easier, crochet loosely in every round.
Insert hook in between the “V” of next st, yarn over and draw through the st, yarn over and draw through the two loops on the hook.
Decrease (with split single crochet)
(Insert the hook in between the “V” of next st, yarn over and draw through the st) twice, yarn over and draw through three loops on the hook. One stitch has been decreased.
Ch-4 Picot
Decorative round looking stitch, made from 4 chains which are closed in the round with a sl st. Ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from the hook.
Ch-5 Picot
Decorative round looking stitch, made from 5 chains which are closed in the round with a sl st. Ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from the hook.

With tapestry needle, sew two leaves to the lower part of the wreath, centered with the upper hanging space, with an interspace of 10 sts. Then, sew the two remaining leaves to the center.
Sew the fruits over the leaves, three of them right at the center of the wreath and the two remaining pairs to each side.
Tie the band for the bow and sew to hold in place. Sew the bow to the wreath, over the bottom of the hanging space.
Insert one end of the hanging cord through the space by shaping a loop. Then, pull opposite end of the cord through the loop to hold.
