I’m adding a new video tutorial this week: basic stitches, back and forth. It covers the main steps to work with single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, which almost every beginner crocheter practices at first. They are the basis for many more complex designs and elaborate stitches. And it’s combined with crocheting them back and forth, one of the two ways of working crochet (the other is in the round).
Agregué un nuevo video tutorial esta semana: puntos básicos, de ida y vuelta. Este cubre los pasos principales para trabajar con medio punto (punto bajo), medio macizo (medio punto alto) y macizo (punto alto), con los que casi todos los principiantes de ganchillo comienzan. Son la base para muchos diseños más complejos y puntadas elaboradas. Y está combinado con el tejido de ida y vuelta, una de las dos formas para tejer a ganchillo (la otra es en redondo).
Crocheting back and forth allows us to make flat pieces, such as the most basic crochet garment, the scarf. You cover a number of stitches within a row and then, to start a new row you turn the work so you can start crocheting from right to left once again. Then you make the same number of stitches for a straight shape.
Tejer de ida y vuelta nos permite hacer piezas planas, tal como la prenda más básica del tejido, la bufanda. Cubres una cantidad de puntos para completar una vuelta y después, para empezar una nueva vuelta, volteas la labor para poder empezar a tejer de derecha a izquierda nuevamente. Después haces el mismo número de puntos para tener una forma recta.
It begins with a foundation chain, and depending on what stitch we are working with, we start and end each row with some specifications. Follow the charts for more details on how each piece was done.
Se comienza con cadenas de base y dependiendo de qué puntada estamos trabajando se empiezan y terminan las vueltas con algunas especificaciones. Sigue los esquemas con símbolos para mayores detalles sobre cómo se hace cada pieza.
Putting all 3 together, made with the same number of stitches and rows, lets us compare size, height and texture. Practicing this craft exercise gives us a good feel of the possibilities of crochet, it loosens up our hand and helps us remember the differences between them.
