FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
Managed to squeeze a last free tutorial for Winter. We’re always in some kind of hurry the last weeks of the year and we might find ourselves in the need to make something quick and easy, that’s also cute. The Borealis Ear Warmer is inspired by the increasing turban headwear trend and the beautiful contrasts in colorful yarns.
A warm feel, to keep us protected from the cold and with a nice fit, to be made with ease, in one single piece. Perfect to go with our cozy outfits or to give as lovely presents, for family and friends.
With simple stitches, to make the most out of the yarn texture. And in two sizes, for adults and kids (4-8 years old). Mainly, back loop single crochets, which I’ve used for several patterns, for it creates a nice elastic weave. Making it also a simple pattern to follow, to be completed in only a few rounds and with a short seam by the end.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Back loop single crochet
Single crochet, made in back loop of stitches from last row/round. Insert the hook in back loop of next stitch, yarn over, pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook.
If you already have basic practice in crochet, especially with single crochets then, you will have no trouble finishing this project. Crocheting all around a foundation chain and making simple increases, will create the needed shape.
And there’s the video tutorial to guide you through, from beginning to end, all the way to the seaming, which is crucial to get the clean finishing on the front of the headband. Written instructions and photos of the process also available in this same post below, to solve any questions you may have in the process.
If you want the formatted, ad free, 6 page PDF document (with written instructions and more than 30 images in photo tutorials) of Borealis Ear Warmer, this is available in my pattern stores (Ravelry, Etsy, Lovecrochet) for USD $2.50.
