FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
Spring is a beautiful time, to enjoy longer sunny days and nature’s blooming. This is inviting to share with family and friends in beautiful gatherings like prolonged brunches and evening barbeques.
The Crochet Easter Bunny will be perfect to offer as good wishes for the season, as a joyful symbol of rebirth and abundance.
You will be able to work it very easily, with only few materials and in a few rounds. With the ideal small size to make several of them, for both adults and kids and to fill with nice little treats because it is also a super cute mini bag.
Skill level is easy, to be made with basic stitches and with simple finishing steps too, for the added embellishments such as the embroidered eye and a little flower.
This free pattern mainly uses single crochets, combined with other basics like chains, half double crochets and double crochets to shape the body and head. But in case you have no experience in crochet at all, you can watch my Crocheting from Scratch video below, which covers all the essentials right from the beginning, if you feel you need to practice first.
A small project that includes simple increases for the body and head. Then, easy sewing to assemble all pieces together and create this happy accessory.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
Ch-4 Picot
Decorative round looking stitch, made from 4 chains which are closed in the round with a sl st. Ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from the hook.
French knot
Thread the needle with a long tail. Insert the needle on the WS and pull from the RS. Wrap the thread around the needle 5 times then, insert the needle in another stitch close to the exit point of the thread. Pull carefully for needle to go through the wrapped thread until coming out on the WS completely and shaping a knot on the RS. Fasten off on the WS to hold knot in place.

I used worsted weight cotton yarn and a 5 mm crochet hook for a quick make but feel free to use a thicker option, like t-shirt yarn, to make a bigger chunkier version.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS
- One 70 gr / 2.5 oz (109 m/120 yd) skein of worsted weight (100% cotton) yarn in YELLOW
- Leftover worsted weight (100% cotton) yarn in PINK
- Leftover sport weight (100% cotton) yarn in BLACK
- 5 mm (H-8) crochet hook
- Stitch marker

NOTES
- When crocheting in the round, in a spiral, with sc, place a marker in first st of the Rnd and move up with every Rnd as work progresses.
- When crocheting in the round, in a spiral, with sl st, place a marker in first st of the Rnd.
- Before making final seams to sew the head to the body of the bunny, pin first to keep in place while sewing.
EASTER BUNNY
FRONT OF MINI BAG
Crocheted in the round, in a spiral, and then back and forth, starting from the center. With YELLOW make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc inside the ring= 6 sts
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around= 12 sts
Rnd 3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st) rep ( ) 6 times= 18 sts
Rnd 4: Sc 1, (2 sc in next st, sc 2) rep ( ) 5 times, 2 sc in next st, sc 1= 24 sts
Rnd 5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st) twice, sc 1, 1 ch-4 picot, sc 2, (sc 1, ch 5, starting in 4th ch from the hook hdc 2, sc 1) in next st, sc 3, (sc 1, ch 5, starting in 4th ch from the hook hdc 2, sc 1) in next st, (sc 3, 2 sc in next st) twice.
Rnd 6: Sl st 1, ch 18, skip 4 sts, sl st 1, ch 1, taking back strand of each sc from last R sc 24.
Continue crocheting back and forth to shape sides and bottom of the bag.
R7-9: Ch 1, sc 24= 24 sts
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
BACK OF MINI BAG
Crocheted in the round, in a spiral, starting from the center. With YELLOW make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc inside the ring= 6 sts
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around= 12 sts
Rnd 3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st) rep ( ) 6 times= 18 sts
Rnd 4: Sc 1, (2 sc in next st, sc 2) rep ( ) 5 times, 2 sc in next st, sc 1= 24 sts
Rnd 5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st) rep ( ) 6 times= 30 sts
Rnd 6: Sl st 1, ch 18, skip 4 sts, sl st 1.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in beg tail.
HEAD
Crocheted in the round, in a spiral, starting from the center. With YELLOW make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc inside the ring= 6 sts
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around= 12 sts
Rnd 3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st) rep ( ) 3 times, sc 1, (sc 1, ch 1, sc 1) in next st, sl st 3, (sl st 1, ch 7, starting in 4th ch from the hook dc 1, hdc 2, sc 1, sl st 1) in next st, ch 7, starting in 4th ch from the hook dc 1, hdc 2, sc 1.
Sl st in next st.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in beg tail.
FLOWER
Crocheted in the round, in one round, starting from the center. With PINK make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: (Ch 3, sl st 1) rep ( ) 5 times inside the ring= 5 ch-3 sp and 5 sl sts
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in beg tail.
FINISHING
With tapestry needle sew the back of the bag to R9 of front of the bag, by lining up the handle openings on both sides.
With sport weight yarn in BLACK make a French knot between Rnds 1 and 2 of the head, close to the nose.
Sew the head to the front of the bag, over right side of the handle. Sew the flower to one side of the head.
