Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and as always, crochet comes in handy when needing a quick but beautiful present.
The Cupid Crochet Bookmark is a romantic accessory for passionate readers, that will both work to keep track of last read episodes and as a cute loving reminder.
So easy and fast to complete, to practice basic stitches, in only one round for each piece. Even take your yarn leftovers to create these motifs that are only sewed by the end to shape the final design.
Not that you need to be an experimented crocheter to make this project but in case you are a total newbie, you may find my Crocheting from Scratch video as a useful resource. It will show you how to hold your hook and thread and start with basic stitches.
Bookmark is easy level, to achieve simple shapes and then, basic sewing only, to attach the little hearts to the center of the arrow.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
Treble crochet
Double crochet, with an extra yarn over at the beginning, to create a taller stitch. Yarn over twice, insert hook in indicated st, yarn over and draw through the st, (yarn over and draw through two loops on the hook) twice, yarn over and draw through last two loops on the hook.
Ch-2 Picot
Decorative round looking stitch, made from 2 chains which are closed in the round with a sl st. Ch 2, sl st in 2th ch from the hook.

I used 100% cotton yarn (sport weight) for this project, to get the desired size and thin weave by the end which is the ideal thickness for a bookmark.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS
- 10 gr/0.4 oz (12 m/13 yd) of sport weight 100% cotton yarn in CREAM
- 10 gr/0.4 oz (12 m/13 yd) of sport weight 100% cotton yarn in RED
- 3 mm (11) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
FINISHED SIZE
1.2” x 9.3” / 3 cm x 23.5 cm
GAUGE
Single crochet, back and forth
24 sts and 20 rows= 4”/10 cm
SKILL LEVEL
Easy: This design includes basic crochet stitches, simple shaping and finishing techniques.
STITCH GUIDE
- Rnd: round
- Ch: chain
- St(s): stitch(es)
- Sl st: slip stitch
- Sc: single crochet
- Dc: double crochet

CUPID BOOKMARK
ARROW
Crocheted in the round, in one closed round, starting from the lower end. With CREAM, ch 61.
Rnd 1: Starting in 2nd ch from the hook sl st 3, (ch 4, starting in 2nd ch from the hook sl st 3, continue working over the foundation ch and sl st 3) twice, ch 4, starting in 2nd ch from the hook sl st 3, continue working over the foundation ch and sl st 51, (ch 4, dc 3, tc 1, 1 ch-2 picot, tc 1, dc 3, ch 4, sl st 1) in last ch, continue on the other side of the foundation ch and sl st 50, (ch 4, starting in 2nd ch from the hook sl st 3, continue working over the foundation ch and sl st 3) rep ( ) 3 times.
Sl st in next st.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
HEARTS (Make 2)
Crocheted in the round, in one round, starting from the center top. With RED make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: (Ch 3, 3 tc, 3 dc, 1 tc, 3 dc, 3 tc, ch 3, 1 sl st) inside the ring. Pull to close and shape the heart.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
FINISHING
With yarn needle, on the RS, sew the hearts over the center the arrow, with an interspace of 2.2” / 5.5 cm.
