FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
Variety of accessories is so wide nowadays, because of our different activities. And when we travel or only need to carry our two or three essentials, we require something just for it. The good thing is that we can resolve with our crochet abilities.
The Giorno Mini Bag and Coin Purse are a set of accessories, that are as cute and light, that they will become your favorite for fun outings. They include a basic tapestry crochet pattern and embellishment details like the chain handle and a button on the front.
Something you can crochet with only 50 gr. of each shade, for a fast and colorful make. With directions to add a zipper to the coin purse as well to make it super complete, with some stitching notions.
Tapestry crochet made with single crochet cross stitch, which I suggest you practice before making this actual project, in case you have not tried tapestry with this variation. You only need a few minutes and making a small sample with my Tapestry Crochet Single Crochet Cross Stitch video. This will help you start the bag with more confidence.
Both little bags have the same structure, but coin purse is only made with one third of the mini bag amount of rounds and by inverting the colors. So, super easy and with a repetitive color pattern.
SPECIAL STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
Single crochet cross stitch
Single crochet variation, where yarn is crossed on the RS of each st, instead of having the regular “V” structure. To get this crossed effect, the first yarn over must be taken as a yarn under instead, by placing the hook over the yarn.
Insert the hook in the st, yarn under, pull through the st, yarn over and pull through the two loops on the hook.
Tapestry Crochet
In this technique, you crochet with one yarn while one or more threads are carried and wrapped in between the stitches. Colors are switched throughout rows/rounds to make a drawing. Depending on the project, you will make one or more foundation rows/rounds with one color only and then move on to the tapestry crochet portion of the project.
Invisible join
It is used to get a cleaner end of round. Finish last st of the Rnd, cut the yarn leaving a 4”/10 cm tail and pull the yarn through the final loop. Thread tapestry needle and insert in the first st of the rnd. Then, insert the needle on top of the last st of the rnd, by going through the center and pulling through the WS. Pull to close and fasten off.

Sew the button to front of the bag, centered, to Rnd 33.
JOINING THE EYELETS AND CHAIN
Insert one chain eyelet through the link on one end of the chain. Fold the eyelet piece in half

of the bag.
JOINING THE ZIPPER TO THE COIN PURSE
Turn the bag inside out on the WS. Take one side of the zipper on the WS and pin to last Rnd of the bag. Baste with thread in CC, to keep in place. Open the zipper and rep for the other side. With thread in MC make final seam around the edge of the bag with back stitch. Fasten off. Remove baste stitches. If necessary, make a second seam over the lower edge of the zipper. Turn back the bag on the RS.
