FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
Still a few more days before Christmas Eve but it’s already a busy calendar of gatherings, school festivals and family visits, for which we need to plan our outfits or the presents to give.
The Nox Crochet Collar is one of those designs that you will want to wear and also make for others. Super easy and with practically no other finishing step than attaching the pair of cords for the bow.
This free project includes single crochets, double crochets, chains and picots, to create the beautiful rounded shape and edging. Pretty simple but if you have no experience in crochet at all, you can watch my Crocheting from Scratch video first, if you feel you need to practice a little before diving into a more specific task.
Easy to follow rows for the collar and only one row for the cords for a super fast make. Not even needing a crochet chart, for the instructions are really straight forward.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
Double crochet join (Standing double crochet)
Used to add a new yarn in the beginning of a new round, to get a cleaner start. Make a slip ring over the hook, yarn over, insert the hook in the st, yarn over, pull through the st, (yarn over, pull through two loops on the hook) twice.
Ch-5 Picot
Decorative round looking stitch, made from 5 chains which are closed in the round with a sl st. Ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from the hook.
This video tutorial for the Nox Crochet Collar covers all steps of the making. Video is in Spanish, but you have the option to see the Closed Caption in the language of your choice, by selecting the settings icon on the video then, select Closed Caption, Automatic Translation and select your language. And you also have all written directions and images (below this same post), to follow every detail step by step.
Sport weight was my selection for the cotton yarn, because of the lovely texture and look of stitches. And in three different shades, to lighten up any outfit you want to put it with. ONLY NOTE THAT THE VIDEO TUTORIAL DISPLAYS THE COLLAR MADE WITH GRAY, CAMEL AND CINNAMON.
