Besides the circular base, the crocheted oval base is very useful for a variety of designs, from babies’ booties to pillow cases, bags, etc. There are different ways to make it so it’s more pointy on the sides or more round depending on the final result you want. In this case I will show you the most basic one that works great for me because it’s simple. The key is to mark the important stitches so you can count the rounds and the shape grows properly.
This base can also be made with tapestry crochet technique. The first round will be crocheted with the main thread only and from R2 the additonal thread will be carried along.

Además de la base circular, la base ovalada hecha a ganchillo, es muy útil para una variedad de labores, desde zapatitos de bebé, almohadones, fundas, bolsos, etc. Hay maneras distintas de hacerla para que quede más angulosa en los extremos o un poco más redondeada dependiendo de la labor final que se quiera hacer. En este caso les presento la forma más básica que a mi me funciona para muchas piezas y que es sencilla. La clave está en señalar los puntos importantes para ir contando las vueltas e ir abriendo la forma de manera uniforme.
Esta base también puede hacerse con la técnica de tapestry crochet. La vta. 1 se hace sólo con el hilo principal y a partir de la vta. 2 se empieza a cargar el hilo adicional.
