Colorful Crochet special edition by Crochet World is out now, including beautiful projects, all made with self-striping yarns. I was so happy that my Rainbow Star Baby Blanket is part of it, and even more when I saw it made it to the cover! The task was to create something where all shades would stand out and I started with texture, some stitch pattern that would allow colors to have the leading role. Then, after some tests and unraveling, the star shape revealed and that’s when I decided it would be great for a baby blanket.
The combination of stitches is repetitive, including basics, such as single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, front post double crochet. So, you can really sit down and relax while crocheting, it’s one of those stitch patterns that you will end up memorizing, letting colors in the yarn do all the rest. I used the lovely Mandala cakes from Lion Brand in two different shades that really match, and give the color scheme continuity. And the final touch, with pompons in each point, to make it even more playful. This was my very first project with “cakes” and I simply loved how they work, always amazed with so many threads available out there!
