I have a two seat bench, in Mexico we call it “you and me” bench. A dear aunt gave it to me, she moved and wouldn’t have enough space for it at her new place. She asked me if I was interested and I loved it as soon as I saw it. First I put two old cushions I used to decorate my bed with to give it a touch of color but it didn’t quite convince me.
I thought of designing new cushion cases. I love mexican country style so what came to my mind was cotton and vivid colors. I loved the final result, two cushion cases which can be exchanged for new combinations, with wide wooden buttons. Each case is made of two pieces, crocheted with tapestry crochet technique wrapping a 6 mm cotton cord which shows through the weaving for that rustic look and better resistance.

Tengo una linda banca “tú y yo” que me regaló una querida tía. Era un mueble para el que ella ya no tenía espacio. Me preguntó si me interesaba y yo la quise en cuanto la vi. Le coloqué unos cojines que ya tenía para adaptarla a mi espacio, pero no me convencían mucho, sentía que no le quedaban del todo.
Pensé en tejer unas fundas nuevas. El estilo rústico mexicano me encanta y me vino a la mente un diseño con algodón en colores vivos. El resultado me fascinó, dos fundas que se pueden combinar entre sí, con botones grandes de madera. Cada funda está hecha de dos piezas tejidas en redondo con tapestry crochet. La combinación con el cordón de algodón de 6 mm que asoma entre el tejido le da ese toque rústico que buscaba y mayor resistencia al tejido.
