My new free pattern, the cabled cape, has been released. It took me quite some time. Mainly because it involves a more advanced technique, a crochet cable, that is made with front post and back post double crochets. It’s a very complete tutorial, with written instructions and some images, two charts with symbols and my longest video tutorial so far.
Mi nuevo patrón gratuito, la capa con trenza, ha sido publicada. Me tomó algo de tiempo. Principalmente porque incluye una técnica más avanzada, una trenza a crochet, que está hecha con macizos (puntos altos) por delante y por detrás. Es un tutorial bastante completo, con instrucciones escritas y algunas imágenes, dos gráficos con símbolos y mi video tutorial más largo hasta ahora.
I love cables, they give a very special and quite stunning look to any piece. And I also like capes but I wanted to make a short version that would leave arms kind of free to move. The garment is made with the two basic construction types, in the round and back and forth. The upper part of the cape is made separately from the cable band and then the two are sewed together. This also makes it easier to adapt for other sizes. The tutorial includes one size only, which I would consider as small, but it can be turned bigger or even smaller by making more/fewer increase rounds for the upper part and changing the length of the cable band.
Me encantan las trenzas, le dan un toque especial y muy llamativo a cualquier pieza. Y también me gustan las capas pero quería hacer una versión corta que dejara los brazos algo libres para moverse. La prenda está hecha con los tipos de construcción básicas, en redondo y de ida y vuelta. La parte superior de la capa se hace por separado de la tira de la trenza y después las dos se unen. Esto también facilita que se pueda adaptar a distintas tallas. El tutorial incluye una sola talla, que yo consideraría pequeña, pero puede hacerse más grande o chica haciendo más/menos vueltas de aumentos en la parte superior y cambiando el largo de la tira de la trenza.
