FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL
We’ve finally arrived to the most fun part of Wuf-Wuf Barry Free CAL, to draw the bone on the dog’s vest! Because what would it be of him without his favorite treat? If you already made Hop-Hop Charlie, you’ll find construction is quite similar to the carrot t-shirt, but interesting part is we’ll be using up to 5 yarn bobbins this time. And don’t worry, this doesn’t mean it is more difficult, it’s just the way that Intarsia Crochet works to make each color section.
Are you just arriving to this CAL (Crochet Along)? I suggest you go back to PART 1 to get all the details and get started right from the beginning.
If you want the anticipated, finished version of this free CAL, which is a formatted, ad free 11 page PDF document (with photo tutorials and watermark free chart), this is already available in my pattern stores (Ravelry, Etsy, Lovecrochet) for USD $2.50. This will allow you to complete the design, without waiting for the other parts of the free CAL to be revealed. Just note that instructions (with videos) will be released as the free CAL moves along.
Make sure to subscribe to my mailing list, or follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Youtube, for you to be notified as soon as a new part of this CAL is published. I will also love to see your makings so, feel free to use #wufwufbarry on your IG or FB posts, for me to see your progress.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
For this part of Wuf-Wuf Barry CAL, we’ll be using crochet basic stitches, such as single crochet and decreases. We’ll also be crocheting back and forth, and making a few color changes to draw the bone with Intarsia Crochet technique.
Intarsia crochet
Color work technique where yarns are switched to form a drawing. Each area of color is worked with separate threads, without carrying additional colors in between the stitches or leaving floats on the back side, creating a double-sided project. Yarn bobbins are used to work each section.
If you have never worked with Intarsia, you may want to practice first, with my Color Facets Coasters video tutorial. This will be useful, to learn how to manage yarn bobbins and different colors of yarn. Also, how to follow the color chart.
If you want to move directly to the bone vest, these steps are also explained in detail in PART 3 video tutorial.
You will also find a photo tutorial and the bone chart for written instructions below.
