Wuf-Wuf Barry Free CAL, Part 2

FREE PATTERN WITH VIDEO TUTORIAL

Last week of January and as the cold is very slowly going away, it’s also time for PART 2 of Wuf-Wuf Barry Free CAL to be released, and with video tutorial available to make the head and ears. These are the body parts that will give your amigurumi dog that distinctive look. Also interesting in the making, because the head mixes tapestry crochet technique for color work with shaping at the same time.

Are you new to this CAL (Crochet Along)? Don’t worry, just go back to PART 1 to get all the details and get started right from the beginning.

If you want the anticipated, finished version of this free CAL, which is a formatted, ad free 11 page PDF document (with photo tutorials), this is already available in my pattern stores (Ravelry, Etsy, Lovecrochet) for USD $2.50. This will allow you to complete the design, without waiting for the other parts of the free CAL to be revealed. Just note that instructions (with videos) will be released as the free CAL moves along.

Make sure to subscribe to my mailing list, or follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Youtube, for you to be notified as soon as a new part of this CAL is published. I will also love to see your makings so, feel free to use #wufwufbarry on your IG or FB posts, for me to see your progress.

STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES

For this part of Wuf-Wuf Barry CAL, we’ll be using crochet basic stitches, such as single crochet, slip stitch, easy increases and decreases. We’ll also be crocheting in the round and making a few color changes for the head, with Tapestry Crochet technique.

Tapestry crochet
In this technique you crochet with one yarn while one or more threads are carried and wrapped in between the stitches. Colors are switched throughout rounds to make a drawing. Depending on the project, you will make one or more foundation rows/rounds with MC only and then move on to the tapestry crochet portion of the project.

If you have never tried tapestry before, I suggest you watch my video tutorial below, where I explain the basics to work it. Then, you will feel more confident to try directly on the dog’s head. I’m also including a the video tutorial that illustrates the process of tapestry in this part of the CAL and a photo tutorial below, if you prefer a faster visual reference for those steps.
